Beskydy Mountains
The picturesque Beskydy mountains are only 25 kilometers away from Ostrava.
The mountain range is an interesting location mainly thanks to the wonderful views and mysterious hideaways. The area is inseparable from its wooden folk architecture – wooden and timbered buildings, some of them historically furnished.




Slezská Harta Dam
Slezská Harta Reservoir, also called the Jesenice Sea, is a location of stunning landscapes and picturesque bays, surrounded by volcanic terrain on the plateau of the Nízký Jeseník Mountains. It is also the site where Luc Besson filmed the legendary Joan of Arc with Milla Jovovich in 1998.








Heřmanice Pond
Just a few minutes drive from the center of Ostrava, you can find yourself in another world thanks to the system of Heřmanický Ponds. The place is a natural monument, in which about 250 species of birds nest and contrasts strongly with the nearby remains of mining.
Genius loci completes the wooden fishing huts standing in the water on stilts, which only fishermen can reach from the banks thanks to specific folding footbridges. In combination with the ubiquitous reeds, the place can boldly play the location of East Asia.
Ema Spoil Tip
The Heap Ema, which was created in 1970 in Ostrava as a result of coal mining, is today characterized by a specific ecosystem where natural and man-made elements mix. Although this area was originally very poor in vegetation, today its surface is covered with a variety of plants that have adapted to extreme conditions. In particular, steppe and xerophytic species can be found on the heap. Thanks to these plants and harsh conditions, the heap acquires a unique appearance that can serve as a great backdrop for films with nature or post-apocalyptic themes.

Poodří Protected Landscape Area
The Poodří Protected Landscape Area stretches along the Odra River between Ostrava and Studénka. It is known for its floodplain forests, meandering river, network of ponds, and the rich presence of rare plants and wildlife. The area is one of the most valuable wetlands in the Czech Republic and is part of the international Natura 2000 network of protected sites. Thanks to its peaceful atmosphere, picturesque corners, and easy access from Ostrava (about a 30-minute drive), Poodří is an attractive location for filming nature and documentary projects, as well as romantic or historical scenes.




Horečky Recreation Area
Horečky is a recreational area located above Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, at the foothills of the Beskydy Mountains. It is a popular starting point for trips to Radhošť or Pustevny and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. The area features an amphitheater, tourist cottages, and modern sports facilities, making it a versatile setting for various types of film productions. Horečky is easily accessible, with roads and hiking trails from the center of Frenštát, and about an hour’s drive from Ostrava.
Hrabůvka Spoil Tip, Ostrava
Hrabůvka Spoil Tip is a prominent hill formed from coal mining waste in Ostrava, now serving as a unique natural landmark in the heart of the city. Thanks to gradual reclamation, it is covered with greenery and trees, creating open spaces with striking panoramas and peaceful views of the urban landscape. Hrabůvka combines industrial history with natural scenery, making it an attractive spot for walks, photography, and film locations that require an urban yet tranquil atmosphere.
