On Sunday, May 18, and Monday, May 19, 2025, the gala advance screenings of the film Jadwiga, the Witch (of Beskydy), directed and produced by Petr Turňa, took place in Mosty u Jablunkova. Nearly 400 viewers watched the film over the two days. The atmosphere at both evenings was exceptional, and the audience feedback was very positive — there is evident interest in the film.

The film is a mysterious thriller set in the Gorol region — in the Jablunkov area of the eastern Moravian-Silesian Region. The creators drew inspiration from local legends, which the director, a native, remembers from stories told by his grandmother. The film reflects on whether the magic that, according to historical accounts, truly existed here could have had a real effect — and what that would mean for today’s materially oriented society.

Great emphasis was placed on authenticity. Some dialogues are spoken in the local dialect “ponašimu,” and the film also features non-professional actors from the region. It was mainly shot in the Beskydy landscape, which offers unique filming locations. The cast includes, among others, Tomáš Dastlík, Petr Buchta, and Miloš Čížek.

The film was made with the support of the Moravian-Silesian Region. A significant partner was the company Maflex-cz, and regional partners included the municipalities of Mosty u Jablunkova and Jablunkov.
